Dana Silvercloud - Bio

Dana Silvercloud started playing in his family's professional gospel music troupe at age 9. By the time he joined the Navy in his mid 20s, he had already played professionally in three other rhythm and blues bands.
His 24 year Navy career started as a gunner but quickly changed to a very rewarding musical journey including unit leader of the prestigious Atlantic Express Band, one of four ensembles in the 70-member Atlantic Fleet Band.
Dana's aggressive and powerful presence onstage clearly showcases the talent of a master musician with the soul and dynamics of a seasoned professional.
Dana Silvercloud was the recipient of the 2005 Bass Player of The Year Award from M.E.O.N.A. He also plays a variety of other instruments including vocals, guitar, horns, keys, drum set, percussion and steel drum. This diversity adds a well rounded stage and studio perspective to this already competent musician and composer.
He has shared the stage with some world-class players including Kool & The Gang, Dave Matthews, Mike Utley & Fingers Taylor, and has opened for The Little River Band, The Average White Band, and The Doobie Brothers, to name a few.
Dana has brought his energy and expertise to The Island Boy Band for the last 10 years; a well established 6-piece high-energy band with great players and vocals. He now also leads his own group, New Direction, a smaller group with a focus on interplay and creative improvisation. He has also been found around town joining the Mike Proffitt Band, Brad Street Band, Bryan Dunn, & Karl Werne.
With all of his talents and abilities, combined with his charm and charisma, Dana is always, in his own words, "looking to bring people together as well as touch the human spirit" through his music, Dana has always strived to "touch a heart & bring a smile".
